I am a graduate student in the Program for Molecular Plant Biology (http://www.plantbiology.colostate.edu/). My research focuses on the reproductive barriers specific to the Solanum habrochaites in southern Peru. Southern tomato populations exhibit sporadic self-compatible (SC) and self-incompatible (SI). Focusing on the presence of S-RNase alleles I will use a combination of molecular techniques and mating characteristics I will seek out the causes of this variable phenotype in these marginal populations.
